Our native plants are not the only ones to survive the changeable weather. Weeds never sleep and the first working bees this year will be busy catching up on the last couple of weeks. And pricking out newly germinated seedlings needs to be done. And there is a shade sail and windbreak to erect. And an irrigation system that needs maintenance. And a tunnel house that needs relining. And we still need to get out into the hills to look for more seeds. A busy time! The first Thursday working bee was THURSDAY, 5 January, 1000-1300. And the FIRST SUNDAY working bee is on 8 January, 1000-1300. A few shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows would be good for this one. Regular working bees are on: THURSDAYS from 10am to 1pm in summer and 11am to 1pm in winter; Every second SUNDAY at the above times (next one is on 22 January). There are community plantings to be weeded, and in some cases watered, whenever you are nearby:
